Light changes fly behaviour

Scientists have been able to trigger courtship songs in genetically modified fruit flies using a flash of light.

This footage shows how they have been able to do this with male fruit flies, and, more surprisingly, with female flies, who usually do not produce these songs.

The team said the study showed that the "wiring" in male and female fruit flies' brains was similar.
