Winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award 2006, horsewoman Zara Phillips, wasn't the only person jumping for joy at the NEC in Birmingham on Sunday 10 December. Twelve-year-old Kieran from St John Wall Roman Catholic School in Birmingham had "one of the best days of his life" when he reported the event for BBC News School Report.
Kieran, who talked to the Queen's granddaughter, also chatted to a host of National and Premiership footballers including: West Ham's Anton Ferdinand and Nigel Reo-Coker; Owen Hargreaves, who plays for Bayern Munich and England, and Manchester City's Micah Richards.

To top it all, he spoke to Lord Sebastian Coe, who chaired the bid for London to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
In his report Kieran writes: "I was very proud when Mr Coe asked if I could put my report on the 2012 Olympic website."
Earlier in the week, students in Kieran's class organised a press conference for 13-times World Darts Champion Phil Taylor, who was one of the nominees. The 46-year-old, from Stoke-on-Trent, said: "I've never done anything like this before. It was brilliant."

I went to the Sports Personality of the Year Awards on Sunday 10th December 2006, which was held at the NEC, Birmingham. It was the first time in history it took place outside of London. Mr Dale and I were chosen to go and watch it. When we got there we parked in north 1A car park and caught the shuttle bus to the building.
When we got inside we had to tie our yellow tags somewhere so that the security guards could see them and be able to get into Hall 10.
We entered the hall and looked for our table. We were introduced to lots of important people from the media, who were very helpful to us.
We had 20 minutes to introduce ourselves to everyone and wait for everyone else to arrive.
Then we had a lovely three-course meal. Later we went to Hall 9 for the event. This hall was incredible and the presenters had a rehearsal so we knew when we needed to clap.

Beth Tweddle was rehearsing for her gymnastics performance she was going to do live. All together the event was about two hours long. Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter won the Sports Personality of the Year Award. She was presented with the trophy that had been to our school earlier in the week. Later she told Mr Dale that she was surprised to win.
After the supper event finished we went back to Hall 10 for the special party where all of the celebrities were.
We met and spoke to many of the stars including Linford Christie, Steve McClaren, Kelly Holmes, Jeremy Guscott, Denise Lewis, Darren Campbell, Alan Shearer , Mark Lewis Francis, Anton Ferdinand, Sally Gunnell, Nigel Reo-Coker, Steve Cram, Micah Richards, Doug Ellis, Owen Hargreaves, Nick Hancock, Sir Henry Cooper, Boris Becker, Zara Phillips, Bjorn Borg, Darren Clarke, Walter Smith, Peter Schmeical and Sebastian Coe.
I was very proud when Mr Coe asked if I could put this report on the 2012 Olympic website.
Match of the Day presenter Adrian Chiles gave me some very good advice. He said: "To be a good reporter you need to read a lot and show interest in everything."
Mr Dale and I are very grateful to BBC Birmingham for having the chance to experience one of the best days of our lives.
