Jesse Jackson has criticised banks on a trip to the UK.

The US civil rights leader told George Alagiah that banks like RBS and Bank of America had a "national obligation to re-invest in their countries".

He said that a recovery for the financial sector without more widespread job creation would be of no benefit.

Mr Jackson was speaking from Cambridge in England, where he launched a voter registration drive called Operation Black Vote.

GMT with George Alagiah is broadcast on weekdays at 1200 and 1230 GMT on BBC World News. Find out more information about regional broadcast times here.
