Sony has issued an apology after a wave of complaints about its new handheld console, PlayStation Vita, which recently went on sale in Japan.
Users described unresponsive touchscreens, crashes and freezes although Sony said it could not find evidence that the problems were widespread.
In other news, Microsoft has unveiled a new secure log-in process for touchscreen devices running Windows 8 operating system.
Users could have the option of signing in by tapping, circling or touching images.
