Friday 20 May Ivan Noble We spoke to Ivan's widow, and the editor of BBC News Interactive about the Ivan Noble bursary and the book about his Like A Hole In The Head: Living With A Brain Tumour is published by Hodder on 23 May. The BBC's proceeds will go to Medecins Sans Frontieres UK, the charity chosen by Ivan. Wednesday 18 May Care Homes The way care homes for the elderly charge their residents, will be analysed in a comprehensive report today. The 8-billion pound a year industry has been investigated by the Office of Fair Trading, after a call for greater transparency by the consumer organisation WHICH? It says the families of residents should be told clearly - how much services are going to cost, and what they're paying for. Fiennes on Mount Everest
Explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes is making final preparations ahead of his attempt to scale Mount Everest.
His team is acclimatising at seven thousand meters, and the four day ascent to the summit will begin when there's a suitable gap in the weather. Sir Ranulph, who is 61, had a heart bypass operation two years ago and is raising money for the British Heart Foundation. Recycling toys The organisation which wants more toys to be recycled is called Envirowise. It can offer advice on how to design products to make them easier to repair and re-cycle

Omega 3
A study in which 200 children in County Durham were given Omega 3 fats (found in fish and nuts and available in commerically produced supplements) has produced improvements in behaviour and performance. The results of the Oxford University study are published in this month's issue of the American journal Pediatrics. The children age 5-12 were all of normal ability but underachieving. After 3 months on supplements, half of them were no longer classified as having problems. In some cases children improved their reading age by up to 4 years.

Tuesday 3 May DNA History We talked to the National Geographic's Explorer in Residence, Dr Spencer Wells. He's using people's DNA profiles to provide a better picture of where mankind originated.
