E-mail of the week: Gang culture

Kids have no sense of belonging, says Steven Panayi
After the murder of two innocent teenage girls at a New Year party in Birmingham, the issues of gang culture and gun crime have featured heavily on Breakfast. Many of you expressed your concerns about what's happening in Britain's inner cities - including Steven Panayi, from Bromley:

Gang culture is a plague of the material age we live in.

Kids now seek a sense of belonging in these so-called extended families because the material age is superficial.

Media companies control what kids watch, letting see such things we would never have dreamed of being allowed to watch when we were young.

Political correctness has gone barmy.

In short youth culture has regressed to tribalism to seek a sense of belonging in this sad new world.

Banning guns may be needed but that alone will not stop the violence.

Steven Panayi, Bromley
