| E-mail of the week: Civvy Street ![]() Civilian life is chaos, says Bryan Fisher One in four of those living rough on Britain's streets is thought to have a background in the armed forces. On Friday's programme, we looked at a new scheme, to ease service personnel back into civilian life. Here, retired Flight Lieutenant Bryan Fisher explains why life civilian life can be tough:
Service life is ordered, with discipline, sensible command, respect for rank and position. You are given (and must accept) responsibility, but with it comes accountability. Are you suprised that an ex-serviceman finds civilian life bewildering? There is no respect, no responsibility, certainly very little accountability, and the country appears to be governed by bleeding hearts and those who shout loudest. Chaos! |
