Spain's Penelope Cruz has brought more glamour to Cannes, now in its second week. The Oscar-winning star is at the event with Broken Embraces, her latest film with director Pedro Almodovar (right). The pair arrived together for the premiere of the film, which is about a film-maker who goes blind after an accident. The movie is competing for the prestigious Palme d'Or prize. Tuesday also saw Twilight actor Robert Pattinson arrive to promote New Moon, the sequel to his hit vampire romance. The British star will reprise his role as the brooding Edward Cullen in Chris Weitz's film. US actor Willem Dafoe (centre) was in ebullient mood on Monday as he arrived for the premiere of Antichrist with his Italian wife Giada Colagrande and the film's Danish director, Lars von Trier (right). American actress Rosanna Arquette, pictured with French star Jean-Marc Barr, was also on hand to see von Trier's dark and controversial drama unspool at Cannes' Palais des Cinemas. Earlier on Monday, the British director Ken Loach (left) and footballer turned actor Eric Cantona (right) made an unlikely double act at the premiere of their new comedy, Looking for Eric. Loach and Cantona were joined by Ayush Manesh Khedekar, one of the stars of Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire. The young Indian is no stranger to glitzy events following his visit to the Academy Awards. Two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank also attended the Looking for Eric screening, taking the time before taking her seat to pose with some of her delighted Cannes fans. Swank's next stop was the Hotel Martinez, where she saw fellow Oscar winner Marion Cotillard present The Reader star David Kross (right) with the Chopard Trophy for most promising actor. The fake snow conjured up to promote upcoming release A Christmas Carol proved too tempting to pass up for Jim Carrey. Co-stars Robin Wright Penn and Colin Firth (right) looked on. The reformed Spandau Ballet are among the stars taking part in this year's festivities. The Cannes Film Festival continues until Sunday, when the winner of this year's Palme d'Or will be announced.
