Three-year-old British girl Madeleine McCann is feared abducted after vanishing from a holiday apartment in Portugal on 3 May. Volunteers have scoured the countryside around the resort village of Praia da Luz in a desperate bid to find Madeleine. Reward posters have gone up in the Algarve as Portuguese authorities head the hunt for the British girl. A local woman expresses her concern by laying a flower at the apartment where Madeleine disappeared. Police have used search dogs as part of their operation. Portuguese police chief Olegario Sousa (centre) told reporters on 8 May that 240 police and fire officers were searching for the child.
