Receipts for goods sold in Jersey will have to show how much is being paid in a new tax if an amendment is agreed. A Goods and Services Tax (GST) is being introduced in May to cover the financial shortfall from a new zero-rate corporation tax.
The tax will mean consumers will have to pay an extra 3% on most goods and services including food and clothing.
The amendment follows concerns that consumers would not know how much tax they were paying.
