Jersey's Consumer Council is complaining to the island's post company over how much it has to pay to have its newsletter delivered to homes. The council says it has not published a newsletter for six months because prices more than doubled to 9,000.
Jersey Post said problems setting meetings prevented deals being reached.
It also said the council could have been charged only 3,000 if it had agreed to include other items in the packages, such as official papers.
'Lengthy' negotiations
The council said lengthy negotiations started when its fee for distribution went up from nearly 4,000 to just over 9,000.
It said that, as a publicly-funded body, it had tried to find another way of having the newsletter delivered.
But Jersey Post claimed the reason it took so long to discuss the price increases was because the council's chairman, Deputy Alan Breckon, sometimes took weeks to respond to requests for meetings.
It also said the newsletters could have been delivered for 3,000 instead of 9,000 if it had agreed to include other items in its packs, such as States publications.
