People from Jersey who spent World War II in civilian internment camps in Germany have commemorated the 61st anniversary of their liberation. They met on Friday at the site of the old underground hospital.
In 1942 hundreds of people were deported from the Channel Islands to camps at Bad Wurzach, Laufen and Biberach and some died there.
The Deputy Bailiff Michael Birt and the German Consul Ken Soar joined the group at the Jersey War tunnels.
Last year 18 former internees from Jersey and their families visited Bad Wurzach to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the camp by the Free French forces on 28 April 1945.
A total of 618 islanders of British heritage, were imprisoned at Bad Wurzach from the autumn of 1942 to April 1945.
