Numbers fall at island's airport
Latest figures show that 14,000 fewer passengers travelled in and out of Jersey's Airport last year compared with figures for 2004.

The drop is being blamed on more competition from UK regional airports offering flights to other destinations.

In 2005, 1,484,000 people went through the airport - down 1% on 2004.

The route losing the most passengers, about 25,000, was Jersey to Stansted following Aurigny's decision to stop a direct flight at the beginning of 2005.

Other routes to see a fall in numbers were Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Birmingham and Bournemouth.

The Jersey to Doncaster route saw the largest increase with 42, 318 more people flying.

An extra 12,450 headed to and from Norwich and more people are now also travelling on routes between the island, Durham Tees, Newcastle and Plymouth.
