The site of a new energy for waste plant is under review |
People living in the shadow of two of Jersey's tallest chimneys are invited to learn more about future plans for waste disposal in the island. The smoke that belches out of the rubbish burning plant in Bellozanne Valley has been a concern of residents in the First Tower area for some time.
It is now nearing the end of its useful life and could be replaced.
Residents from First Tower and Havre des Pas have been invited to public meetings to discuss the plans.
All change
The site of a new energy for waste plant is under review.
The island's public services department prefers an option to move it to La Collette, using the Jersey Electricty Company's power plant chimney.
The existing composting site would then move to Bellozanne.
The first public meeting takes place tonight at the Ommaroo Hotel at Havre des Pas at 1930 BST.
