Water laws 'will not be delayed'
Laws to protect water quality will not be delayed while investigations are carried out to see if deep groundwater supplies in Jersey are useable.

A Shadow Scrutiny report published last year advised the committee in charge of water resources to investigate key areas before producing plans for a law.

It suggested looking at water from France and deep groundwater.

The Environment and Public Services Committee said water protection laws should not be delayed unnecessarily.

Senator Philip Ozouf said although investigations did recognise deep groundwater supplies existed, it did not mean that surface water should not be protected in the meantime.
