An agreement has finally been reached on the future of the Broad Street taxi rank in Jersey. Taxi drivers have been involved in a dispute with the Environment Committee, over returning to the rank when improvement works are completed.
The start of work was halted and drivers abandoned a temporary rank in Library Place, because the committee would not guarantee the rank's future.
They have now agreed to six spaces there and eight in Conway Street.
Work in the area, which is expected to take about five months, is now due to start next week.
The changes are an attempt to make the area more pedestrian friendly.
About 200,000 is being spent on new lighting, seating, bins and trees.
