Drivers say passengers have complained about higher fares
Taxi drivers have returned to the Broad Street rank, after failing to resolve an ongoing dispute with the States.

They abandoned a temporary rank in Library Place after disagreeing with plans to redevelop the St Helier area.

The latest proposal of three spaces in Library Place and eight spaces in Conway street while work is done on Broad Street has been rejected.

The States will meet to discuss the situation on Wednesday and will make no comment until then.

The Taxi Drivers' Association says it is concerned about the safety of passengers and traffic congestion.

Secretary, Dave Le Corre says drivers have received many complaints from customers saying Library Place is inconvenient and fares are higher from there.

No more official meetings have been planned, but the association is calling for the St Helier town constable to call a public meeting.
