| Channel Islanders have joined millions of people to mark the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. In Jersey, wreaths were laid at the Light House Memorial which listed the names of the 22 islanders who died in Nazi camps or prisons. In Guernsey, there were multi-faith services to remember the victims who included the Jewish women who were deported to Auschwitz and murdered. The islands were the only British territory occupied during the war.
