Dr Abdel Abdelbaky: hopeful of finding a site |
Muslims in Jersey have set up a charity to help pay for a new place of worship as they continue to search for a venue. The search for new premises began last summer after safety concerns about the disused take-away caf where the group had been worshipping.
Leaders of the 200-strong community have made appeals for help to find a new venue but have been unsuccessful.
But Muslim community leader Dr Abdel Abdelbaky says he is still hopeful that a new site will found.
He said: "We are looking for a place to make into an Islamic centre.
"We have successfully set up a trust to buy or rent a place."
