Workers vote on industrial action

Telecom workers say the pay rise offered is too low
Staff at Jersey Telecom may take industrial action unless their employer comes up with an improved pay offer, says the union representing them.

Mike Budd, from Amicus, says the only way forward is for an improvement on the 3% pay rise which has been offered.

Members, who want an inflation-linked rise, will be balloted on industrial action in the next few weeks.

The managing director of Jersey telecom says he is disappointed staff are taking this action.

Bob Lawrence says he does not understand why the employees will not agree to the company's offer to go to arbitration.
