The States will debate telephone and bus costs for pensioners |
Keeping low phone tariffs for Jersey's senior citizens will be one of the topics discussed by island politicians in the States on Tuesday. If passed, Deputy Carolyn Labey's proposal would result in Jersey Telecom having to rethink its decision to phase out lower rates for pensioners.
The issue of when pensioners can use their bus passes will also be raised.
Deputy Roy Le Herrissier will ask the States to allow pensioners to use their free bus passes at anytime.
He will also call for the new 2 flat fare for journeys after 2000 BST to be phased out.
The States will also be asked to launch an independent inquiry into the level of court and case costs in Jersey's legal system.
