Islanders to question politicians
Jersey politicians are to be questioned by islanders with concerns about taxation, employment and States cuts.

A panel made up of Senators Frank Walker, Terry Le Sueur, Stuart Syvret and Dick Shenton will answer questions at a public meeting.

Senator Shenton has called the meeting because he feels the public do not get enough chance to be involved in States debates and to raise their concerns.

The meeting starts at the Town Hall in St Helier at 1930 BST on Thursday.

Senator Shenton said the meeting was not intended to be confrontational, but an opportunity for all islanders to bring forward their questions and worries about all issues.

Some of the issues likely to be raised are cutbacks in States spending and social services, or possible tax alternatives as ways to make up the financial loss to the island with its move to a zero rate of corporation tax.

The debate will be chaired by Francis Le Gresley, director of the Citizens Advice Bureau.
