Liberation celebrations in Jersey
Road closed sign
Motorists are being told to avoid Liberation Square
Many of Jersey's roads will be closed and there will be parking restrictions in St Helier as part of the Liberation Day celebrations.

Police are warning motorists to avoid the area around Liberation Square on Sunday.

The Esplanade near the Weighbridge will close on Saturday evening and parking will be restricted in the area from the afternoon.

On Sunday the main route through St Helier will be closed.

The organisers of a barbecue to celebrate Liberation Day in Jersey have had to turn people away.

The event is at St Ouen's Football and Sports Centre.

The six chefs who were recruited prepared enough food for a three-course meal to feed 300 people, but they have had to lock the parish hall in order to stop any more people turning up.
