Liberation 'spectacular' planned
Liberation Day parade
Plans
Plans have been announced for a spectacular show in St Aubin's Bay to mark the 60th anniversary of Liberation Day in Jersey.

Senator Jean Le Maistre, who organised the celebrations for the 50th anniversary, will be in charge of next year's spectacle.

The plans were announced in the States by Senator Frank Walker.

He said islanders would have a chance to celebrate their good fortune over the past 60 years.

Senator Walker described some of the events which will take place during the weekend celebrations in May 2005.

"It is hoped the Saturday will be a Parish Day. Sunday will be a day for remembrance and Liberation Day itself will have a programme of official events and celebrations.

"It is planned that there should be a concert on the Saturday in Fort Regent and a gala event in the opera house on Liberation Day, followed by a spectacular show for the entire island centred on St Aubin's Bay."
