A public piazza could be built near Jersey's old abattoir after parishioners agreed to sell the land near the waterfront. The land has been bought by the Waterfront Enterprise Board (WEB) which wants to link the area with the planned new bus station and shopping mall.
Before reclamation, the land joined the Esplanade and the Weighbridge.
At the meeting on Wednesday evening, St Helier parisioners approved the sale to WEB for 80,000
The Board is unlikely to build on the land, but if it does, there will be a clause in the contract so the parish is paid for the enhanced value.
