Plans to more than double the size of a well-known Jersey hotel are being considered by the island's authorities. The owners of the Royal Yacht Hotel at the Weighbridge want to build more rooms on the site of the island's existing bus depot.
If the plans are approved, the old JMT bus station would be demolished and replaced by a six-storey extension to the existing building.
The expansion will give the hotel 73 new bedrooms, function rooms and bars.
The owners also want to make alterations to the existing 42-bedroom hotel, which includes a popular late night bar and restaurant.
It would be a big investment in the island's tourism industry in a location which is expected to become a public square when the buses are moved to a new site on the waterfront.
