Youth worker appointed
A new youth worker has been appointed in the Jersey parish of St Peter to help extend its community youth bus project.

Sharon le Brocq will be working with volunteers to take the bus out to young people in the parish four nights a week.

The bus, which operates as a mobile youth club, currently visits housing estates in St Peter twice a week.

Nearly 150 young people use the youth club every week.

Timetable extended

For the past year the club has been looking for funding so it could increase the number of visits the bus makes.

It has now managed to raise 18,000 to pay for a new youth worker.

Sharon le Brocq's first task will be to extend the bus timetable and get it out in the community three afternoons and four evenings a week.

She will also be trying to find more volunteers to help run the service.
