Pupils 'must be a priority'
Jersey bus
Connex wants children to use regular bus services
Getting Jersey's children to school must remain a priority in any changes to the bus system, says an island politician.

The Public Services Committee and bus operator Connex are discussing whether the dedicated school service should be abolished, with children using the regular services instead.

In the past, operators of the school bus service have claimed it lost money.

Now Connex is trying to encourage children to use the normal services instead if they are going to Grainville, Haute Vallee or Les Quennevais Schools.

Senator Mike Vibert, President of Education, Sport and Culture, says his committee will talk to the company and Public Services.

He says he is happy for any changes to be made on the understanding that children will still be able to get to school on time with a minimum of disruption.
