Foot-and-mouth controls relaxed
Cows
It is thought the risk of spreading the disease is now low
The Isle of Man can begin to relax some of the control measures introduced to combat foot-and-mouth disease, Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne said.

This means events such as fetes and horse shows can be held in small controlled areas with disinfection measures.

Mr Gawne said they still need permission, but organisers can contact the Animal Health Division for advice.

There is still a moratorium on events involving susceptible livestock.

Restrictions are also still in force for events using grazing land.

The Royal Manx Agricultural Show was also cancelled along with Douglas farmers market as a result of concerns about the disease.
