Homes wanted for TT race tourists
Isle of Man TT race
The TT Races will be in its centenary year in 2007
Residents on the Isle of Man who want to open up their homes to visitors to the TT races next year are being urged to register.

The government's department of tourism and leisure is running the Homestay scheme for the 2007 centenary TT and Manx Grand Prix.

It caters for an "overflow" of tourists looking for accommodation during the island's busiest tourism period.

The Homestay scheme has been operating for more than 15 years.

'Highly successful'

Those who have previously taken part in the scheme will automatically get sent information on the 2007 Homestay.

But residents wanting to take part for the first time, must contact the department.

Tourism Minister David Cretney said: "We want to make sure that all our visitors have the accommodation they are looking for during this very special centenary TT and I would like to thank everybody who has opened up their home in previous years.

"Without their support the TT Festival would not have become the highly successful event we have now come to enjoy every year."

The TT races began in 1907.
