The Boudicca arriving in Guernsey
The Boudicca's arrival marks the start of the season
Guernsey's cruise ship season begins on Friday with the first of 70 liners docking in the island's waters.

The Boudicca, which is arriving from Oporto, Portugal, will mark the start of the season.

She is carrying 1,375 passengers and her visit marks the start of another busy season.

Seventy vessels are scheduled to visit. May will be the busiest month with a total of 24 ships docking, bringing 18,500 people between them.

Harbour Master, Capt Peter Gill, says the visits demonstrate the cruise industry's commitment to Guernsey.

The largest vessels will include the Grand Princess, with 3,100 passengers, and the Oceana with 2,272.

More than 700,000 was brought into the economy from cruise passengers visiting the island during the summer of 2006.

More than 80 vessels visited Guernsey in 2006, with 100,000 passengers going ashore.
