Scheme aims to help sewage system
Dozens of homeowners in an area of Guernsey are taking part in a trial aimed at reducing the need for sewage pipes to be cleaned out.

People in the Castel have been issued with sachets of "micro-munchers" to put into their cesspits.

When placed into the sewage system the organisms help to break down waste as well as reducing odours.

The trial will last four months and preliminary results are expected in the next few weeks.
