More than 1,600 Guernsey people have signed a petition calling for better sewage treatment. The document was launched in October by the UK environmental campaigners Surfer Against Sewage (SAS).
It was started after the States said one million gallons of raw sewage would go into the sea off the White Rock while replacement pipes were installed.
The Glategny Esplanade pipes are being replaced. The petition was given to Chief Minister Laurie Morgan.
The news of the pollution caused outcry among islanders and environmentalists and led to a 20-strong delegation congregating at Sir Charles Frossard House to demand full sewage treatment works.
Chief Minister Morgan was presented with the petition on Thursday morning and assured the group the issue was being taken seriously.
