Tests in September show pollution above EU guide levels |
Nearly 1,000 people have signed a petition calling for full sewage treatment in Guernsey. It was launched by UK environmental campaign group Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) last month.
The States had announced 1m gallons of raw sewage would be pumped into the sea while replacement sewage pipes were installed along Glatengy Esplanade.
The pollution caused outcry from islanders and environmentalists and led to a protest by SAS.
Latest tests reveal bathing water has returned to safe levels.
SAS has confirmed 800 people have so far signed the local petition.
