Island ferries to be safeguarded
Up to 1m is to be spent on refurbishing Sark's ferry service.

The Chief Pleas, the island's governing body, has given the go-ahead for investment in Isle of Sark Shipping.

One vessel, the Bon Marin, is suffering from engine problems, while the other, the Sark Venture, is scheduled for a major overhaul this winter.

Sark Harbourmaster John Carre said there was little choice as it was vital both vessels, which carry about 55,000 people a year, were maintained.
