Guernsey athletes will stay on board a cruise liner during the games
More than 200 competitors and officials from Guernsey are hoping to take part in the 2005 Island Games.

The event is being held in the Shetland Islands next July.

Bookings have been made for the team and the focus now is fundraising. Each sport has to raise money for athletes to travel to the competition.

Dave Dorey, chairman of the Guernsey Island Games Association, says he is delighted with the number of people taking part.

Mr Dorey says he was impressed with the standard of the sports facilities on a recent visit to Shetland.

The Guernsey team will stay on a cruise liner for the duration of the games.
