Drivers warned over chaos
Traffic jams caused by the road closure
The road closure will last for 10 evenings
Motorists heading to the north of Guernsey face several nights of major disruption due to the closure of a section of the seafront.

The stretch of road from Richmond Corner to the Vale Road Junction is closing from 1600 GMT until midnight for the next 10 evenings.

The island's Traffic Committee is appealing to all motorists to stick to the official diversion routes to help stop congestion in Mont Morin Road.

During the first night of the closure on Monday, people were cutting through this road, near St Sampsons School, and causing considerable congestion.

Cutting through

The roadworks are also causing problems for residents in Camp Code Close, who are finding it difficult with drivers cutting though Camp Code Lane.

One resident, Angela Marquand, said they could not cope with this surge of extra vehicles in the narrow road.

Mrs Marquand said the residents in the area were also finding it difficult to get out onto Les Bas Courtils Road, before Richmond Corner, as drivers were not letting them out onto the main road.

During the daytime, temporary traffic lights are operating along the seafront near the Half Way.
