Move to attract tourists to island
Guernsey
Guernsey and Jersey are sharing a stand at the show
Tourism bosses from Guernsey are putting together a package aimed at attracting more visitors to the island.

Latest figures show the multi-million pound industry is on the up after a dip in recent years.

A delegation, including new tourist chief Stuart Pinnell, is attending the World Travel Market in London with the aim of promoting the island as a top destination.

Guernsey is on a Channel Islands stand, promoting the Bailiwick as well as Jersey at the event which runs from Monday to Thursday, 10-13 November.

Commercial interest

The president of Guernsey's Tourist Board, Deputy Geoff Norman, says he hopes to encourage more commercial interest and more visitors to the islands.

He said that by sharing a stand with Jersey, the islands could make more of an impression at the event.

"We feel we can get more of an impact that way, the stand is very big," said Senator Norman.

"When we have had separate stands they are not so effective.

"People do recognise the Channel Islands as the area and when they can come here and meet people from both islands, it helps focus that."
