Two illegal immigrants stopped
Passport being stamped by an immigration official
A man tried to get through immigration with a fake passport
Immigration officers have caught two illegal immigrants trying to enter Jersey.

Although they were travelling separately, both people arrived on the same scheduled ferry service from St Malo in France on Saturday night.

Immigration officers stopped a man in his 20s with a fake Spanish passport.

An Albanian woman, who presented a Danish passport at immigration control, was also found to be an illegal immigrant.

Asylum seeker

The man said he was planning to stay in the island for two days on holiday, but after questioning him, officials found he was from Ecuador.

He had been living and working illegally in France and Spain for the past six years and was coming to Jersey to find work.

The woman had been living in England for the past five years, despite being a failed asylum seeker.

She had used the fake passport to go back to Albania for a holiday and was trying to get back to the UK through Jersey.
