Harbour should be 'sediment free'
St Sampson's Harbour
Excavation work to remove the silt began in July
Guernsey's St Sampson's Harbour should be free of contaminated sediment by the end of the week.

Excavation work to remove the silt began in July.

And Guernsey's Harbourmaster, Captain Robert Barton, says the operation has gone well.

He said the contractors can now begin shaping the harbour bed and the armouring of the sea walls.

He conceded the project is slightly behind schedule.

But he said minor delays should not make any significant difference to the overall timescale.
