Extra security measures are being brought in at Jersey's synagogue. It follows swastikas and racist comments being painted on the St Brelade building.
Steven Regal, president of the island's Jewish congregation, said that the synagogue, which is normally open to anyone, would turn away people who it believed were suspicious.
He said: "If anyone would like to come to our service there may be a minor vetting ceremony at the moment, but we would ask people to bear with us.
"It's unacceptable in a house of worship, but I hope people will understand why."
Meanwhile, Jersey Police are making a fresh appeal for information about the attack on Sunday 8 June.
Officers say they are pleased with the public's response to their investigation.
A teenager of slim build with blond collar-length hair was seen running from near the synagogue car park onto Routes Des Genets and towards Red Houses at about 0315.
The youth appeared to be wearing a light-coloured peaked cap, a long-sleeve light coloured top, light trousers and loose-fitting soft-soled shoes.
The police are asking the person involved, or anyone else with other information, to contact them.
