The Black Eyed Peas also topped the UK chart in May with Boom Boom Pow |
Peter Andre's bid for chart glory was halted in its tracks as the Black Eyed Peas regained the UK singles chart number one spot. The band were dethroned last week by Tinchy Stryder's Never Leave You. But Stryder's reign came to an abrupt end as the Black Eyed Peas reclaimed the chart crown with I Gotta Feeling, pushing him into second place. Andre and his track Behind Closed Doors debuted at number four, behind Calvin Harris' single Ready for the Weekend. Jackson record Andre has been busy promoting his pop comeback with a series of TV and print interviews in recent weeks. The 36-year-old announced in May that he was leaving his glamour model wife Katie Price, aka Jordan, after just over three years of marriage. | TOP FIVE SINGLES 1. Beyonce was one spot under Andre, holding on to the number five position with Sweet Dreams, while Supernova, from Mr Hudson featuring the talents of rapper Kanye West, slipped to number six. X Factor finalists JLS's single Beat Again, I Know You Want Me by Pitbull, Get Shaky by Ian Carey Project and Remedy by Little Boots rounded out the top ten. In the album charts, Michael Jackson's The Essential remained at number one for a seventh week. The Official Charts Company said the reign was a record for a Jackson album - Thriller and Bad each spent five consecutive weeks at number one. There has been renewed interest in Jackson's music since his death in June, at the age of 50. Elsewhere in the albums chart, Beyonce's I Am... Sasha Fierce climbed from number five to number two and The Stone Roses' re-release of their self-titled debut album entered the charts at number five.
