I Gotta Feeling is Black Eyed Peas' third UK number one single |
US hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas have climbed to the top of the UK singles chart, knocking last week's champions JLS off the number one spot. Having entered the rundown at number three last week, their song I Gotta Feeling rose two places in a Top 10 that saw no new releases this week. With X Factor runners-up JLS at two, Mr Hudson's Supernova fell down to three. In the album chart, sales of Michael Jackson's Essential collection ensured the late singer remained at number one. Foot of the Mountain, the latest release from Scandinavian band A-ha, was the only new entry, entering the chart at five. Pole position Black Eyed Peas - whose members include will.i.am and Fergie - now top the singles charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Earlier this week the group set a new record for the longest successive stay at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 by a duo or group. The band previously topped the UK singles chart in May with Boom Boom Pow, their first record in three years. Their first number one on these shores came in 2003 when Where is the Love spent six weeks in pole position.
