Boom Boom Pow is the group's second number one, after Where Is The Love? |
Hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas have shot straight to number one with their first single in three years, Boom Boom Pow. The stripped-back electro track ends Tinchy Stryder's three-week reign at the top of the charts, and pushes La Roux's In For The Kill down to three. Eminem's We Made You and Lily Allen's Not Fair complete the top five, each moving up three places from last week. In the album chart, pop punk outfit Green Day score their second ever number one with 21st Century Breakdown. | TOP FIVE SINGLES 1. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow 2. Tinchy Stryder - Number 1 3. The 17-track concept album builds on their former bestseller, American Idiot, with a story about a young couple on the run from the American dream. Other new entries in the album countdown include Maximo Park, who land at number six with Quicken The Heart, and crooner Jim Reeves, whose latest best of collection enters at nine. Duke Pandemonium, the second release by Scottish rock duo Marmaduke Duke, enters at 14, while Blur guitarist Graham Coxon sees his seventh solo record, The Spinning Top, debut at 36. | TOP FIVE ALBUMS 1. The Black Eyed Peas, whose members include Will.i.am and Fergie, are the only major change to this week's singles chart. It is not until number 38 that another new entry appears - as Eminem notches up another hit from his forthcoming album, Relapse, with Beautiful. Just below that, Bajan R&B singer Shontelle creeps into the Top 40 with Akon duet Stuck With Each Other. And, at number 40, Bill Withers' classic soul ballad Ain't No Sunshine makes its first ever appearance in the UK countdown. The song has jumped 154 places after it was performed by 17-year-old Shaun Smith on Britain's Got Talent last week.
