Price split boosts show ratings

Audiences for Katie Price and Peter Andre's ITV2 reality TV show grew by 68% after the couple announced their separation on Monday.

A repeat episode of the series, Katie and Peter: Stateside, broadcast on Tuesday night, attracted an average audience of 480,000.

An episode in the same time slot last week was watched by 285,000 people.

New episodes of the fly-on-the-wall series, which follows the couple moving to the US, premiere on Thursday.

The shows are repeated on Friday, Sunday and Tuesday.

About 1,074,000 watched last Thursday's episode.

Tuesday's show saw audience figures peak at 480,000 - compared with last week's peak of 285,000.

'Out of my hands'

The celebrity couple, who met during their stint on ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, were married for three-and-a half years.

They have two children together - Junior, three, and Princess Tiaamii, who is nearly two.

Price has another son, six-year-old Harvey, from a previous relationship with footballer Dwight Yorke.

No reason has been given for the couple's split, but Price said it was her husband's decision.

"This is not what I want and the decision has been taken out of my hands," she said in a statement.

The former glamour model, 30, and pop star, 36, have made several fly-on-the-wall TV shows since 2007.

Filming for the latest series has only just finished. In the most recent episode, the pair were seen having a furious argument after Price claimed she was the main breadwinner in their marriage.

In the ensuing row, she said to Andre: "You're an old singer that no one knows about. I'm miserable with you."

Andre retaliated by telling the TV crew: "I'm so glad you filmed this, guys. When you show it back, you'll see what kind of a stupid, arrogant, miserable cow she is."
