US actor Christian Slater is to return to London's West End in a role played on the big screen by Kevin Spacey. Slater, 37, will play Hollywood agent Buddy Ackerman in a stage version of the 1994 film Swimming with Sharks.
It follows his acclaimed performance in the 2004 London production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
"It's a great role [in] a great play," said the True Romance star. "I can't wait to get back on the London stage - it's like my second home."
The show will play for 15 weeks at the Vaudeville Theatre on London's Strand, beginning in October.
'Wickedly funny'
In the play, adapted from George Huang's script by Michael Lesslie, Ackerman is a volatile and demanding boss who puts his new assistant through hell.
Slater called the piece "a fantastic, edge of the seat, gripping story told with a wickedly funny wit".
"The moment I read this script I knew I had to do it," he continued.
The actor was seen in UK cinemas earlier this year as part of the cast of ensemble drama Bobby.
Spacey, who won Oscars for his roles in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, is the artistic director of London's Old Vic Theatre.
