'Desperate' race
The best musical or comedy category is dominated by established favourites such as Desperate Housewives and The Office, with the instant hit Ugly Betty the only newcomer.

Lead actress America Ferrera also receives a nod for best actress in a comedy, but the category will be dominated by a re-run of this year's race between Desperate Housewives stars Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, and the eventual winner, Mary-Louise Parker. Hollywood star Alec Baldwin leads the nominees for best actor in a comedy, for his role in the Saturday Night Live satire, 30 Rock.
Former Friends star Matthew Perry, who helped announce the Golden Globe nominations, is in the running for best actor in a TV mini-series for his role in The Ron Clark Story - about a teacher who changes the life of his New York pupils.
Two British actors, Sir Ben Kingsley and Bill Nighy are also contenders for the same award.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Los Angeles on 15 January.
