Alison Goldfrapp worked with Tricky and Orbital before forming her band |
Dance group Goldfrapp have apologised for failing to appear at the Roskilde festival in Denmark, blaming the ill health of singer Alison Goldfrapp. They said throat problems caused their "late withdrawal" from the event, which featured Guns n' Roses and Morrissey.
"Despite attention from the doctor, it was decided after much discussion that she could not perform," a statement on the band's website said.
They added they regretted if any disappointment had been caused.
"Every effort was made to avoid this situation," the statement said.
A total of 160 bands played during the four-day festival, held 25 miles (40km) west of the Danish capital, Copenhagen.
The event was first held in 1971 and attracts 79,000 fans from around the world. Other withdrawals
Goldfrapp were not the only band to pull out of this year's Roskilde because of illness.
New York rock group Coheed and Cambria withdrew for the same reason, as did London rappers Floetry.
"We apologise to the European fans from deep within our hearts," wrote Claudio Sanchez, vocalist with Coheed and Cambria, on the band's website.
"We were hit with an illness and some personal matters that we were unable to get beyond to finish this tour.
"We had been looking forward to doing this run for so long and we are very disappointed."
