Guns N' Roses are due to tour the UK next month |
Denmark's Roskilde Festival has got under way, with performances from Guns N' Roses, Sigur Ros and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah on the opening day. Bob Dylan, Roger Waters, Morrissey and The Strokes are among 160 acts performing at the four-day event.
First held in 1971 and inspired by the Woodstock festival two years earlier in the US, Roskilde now attracts 79,000 fans from around the world.
It is held 25 miles west of the country's capital, Copenhagen.
Guns N' Roses' performance came just two days after singer Axl Rose was released from jail in Sweden after admitting violent conduct and criminal damage and paying a fine.
The festival line-up includes Morrissey, Dylan, Scissor Sisters and The Streets on Friday.
Primal Scream, Kanye West and George Clinton are among Saturday's highlights, with Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Franz Ferdinand and The Kaiser Chiefs playing on the final day. Waters will close the event on Sunday with a live performance of the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon.
People over 60 have free admission to the festival on Sunday.
Six years ago, the event was marred by tragedy after nine festival-goers were killed in a crowd surge during a Pearl Jam set. Security arrangements have since been tightened.
