The Death of Nelson, painted by Arthur William Devis in 1807, depicts his dying moments aboard HMS Victory.

In the Radio Times cover, Ken Barlow lays his hand on Baldwin's chest - a position taken in the original painting by HMS Victory's chaplain, Dr Scott.

Danny Baldwin and Deirdre Barlow replace Nelson's surgeon and steward.

The two pictures will be displayed side-by-side at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, south-east London, from Wednesday until Sunday.

In the long-running soap, Mike Baldwin - played by Johnny Briggs - has developed Alzheimer's disease.

In next Monday's episode he suffers a heart attack, and dies in the arms of old rival Ken Barlow, played by William Roache.

Briggs filmed his final scene earlier this month, which a Granada spokeswoman described as "quite emotional".
